A Hen Do The ideal moment for celebrating

The ideal moment for celebrating – Hen do!

Since marriage is such a big step, making the decision to get married is something that requires a lot of serious thought and consideration. It means a different status, yet in addition, it signifies changes in one’s personal life. In order to celebrate the lifestyle change that comes with getting married, traditionally before the wedding, there would be a stag or hen do.

A hen do is something that the hen and her closest friends and relatives get together to celebrate. It can just be a night on the town for the girls, where they can do wild and crazy things, or it can be a weekend outing. The bonuses of the evening are the strip clubs, sex toys, alcohol, and other things like that. A weekend event can involve a number of fun activities, such as dancing lessons, spa treatments, water sports, etc.

Shout outs, according to the language of web based technology, is a method of communication that is thought of at that moment. These short messages are able to reach a wider audience by being sent via text message. In the same way, a brief message printed on a T shirt broadcasts thoughts and feelings to people in the surrounding area.

And that is what gave us the idea to offer T shirts for hens that are unique and personalized, allowing them to express their thoughts to onlookers when they are enjoying themselves at a hen do. For instance, if the hen is going to don a Fire Girl outfit, the other attendees can sport T shirts that say something like “Looking for hot stuff” or “This firefighter can handle a big hose”.

There’s no telling what the guys will be thinking of with the point of attraction being your girl gang no matter where you go. These T shirts are white and we print a message of your choosing on them, below which the name of the hen and the details of the hen do can be printed as well. This is a reasonably priced item that comes in assorted sizes. As a matter of fact, you can purchase T shirts that say “X’s hen do”; they can coordinate with whatever outfit the hen wears for various events, and you don’t have to buy a different costume for each activity or outing.

Most important, the hen will be extremely pleased to see her friends wearing T shirts that have been personalized for her hen do, which is an event that will be etched in her memory forever.

This is probably one of the first questions potential attendees will ask and it has the potential to “split the camp” or at least cause a lot of robust discussion. For some, jumping on a low cost flight is the obvious option. It is usually very economical if booked for the “right ” dates and the selection of destinations is huge. As far as some are concerned it is a “no brainer”.

Hens Party for 250 Quid

The car full of girls gasped collectively as we pulled into the long beech-tree lined driveway, at the end of which was our weekend home, a stately red brick Georgian building. Everyone was delighted with the beautiful scenery and the lovely atmosphere.

We arrived after everyone else and went right to the garden to bask in the sunshine before the sun set. Drinking wine while the sun dipped below the cornfield at the end of the garden, I looked out over the group–15 girls, just released from a three-hour car trip were now yelling and playing on the freshly mowed grass.

I had been delighted a couple of months before, when my school chum Jenna requested I serve as maid-of-honor at her wedding. But then it hit me that it meant I had to throw the hen party. I asked various people for suggestions, because I had never ever thrown a hen party.

Most shared with me cautionary tales of town center calamities, exclusive guest lists that left hens out in the cold and fatal, drunk-driving accidents.

Our buddy warned me to ‘never, ever take for granted that the hen will want a stripper.’  The stripper she had arranged ended up bringing the bride-to-be to tears with his gyrating dance routine. Truer words were never spoken, and I was all set to make my maid-of-honor role a success. I came up with a plan to cosset everybody away in a plush country retreat–miles away from dangerous downtowns. The hard part was figuring out how to make it outstanding. And also, how to do it without spending too much, which was crucial.

Since it was summertime, I thought that most large country homes would have been filled up in the past months. But I could hardly believe the number that had vacancies and bargain prices for the weekend. It was also worth mentioning that a lot of places would give a 10 percent discount, particularly if  arrangements were made to utilize one of their service providers for catering or activities.

Finally the credit crunch worked to my advantage! A proprietor mentioned that fewer people had made reservations in the past 12 months. Families who usually make reservations for a minimum of two summer weeks are changing their plans and staying home so they can spend less money. That enabled me to negotiate a really good rate.

Online was a good place to begin looking for buildings, and I discovered various websites devoted to obtaining places to have big house celebrations and even bigger houses for renting. Some particularly helpful websites were www.thebighouseparty.com, www.thebigdomain.com and www.groupaccommodation.com.

The less helpful ones were ambiguous about the number of separate sleeping quarters and the overall size of the residence. You need to know what you need when you look for houses. I had a checklist, and that helped me decide which site fit the hen needs.

Located somewhere that was peaceful and rural is where I wanted the house to be, I knew that. It had to offer sufficient space for everyone to have a private area, which is essential in my mind for a successful hen mini-holiday. I also needed spacious communal rooms to eat and drink in as well as a tea room for afternoon relaxation.

After looking at lots of other places, I found the lovely Barrington House on a website at http://www.countrycottagesonline.net. In making suggestions for the weekend and organizing things, the owner Margaret was a big help, once I had decided on the property.

I was delighted to let Margaret organize most of the event and make the arrangements. Barrington House has a concierge service, with a fully staffed and catered dinner, and the arrangement of local outings, like kayaking in the river Wye. I told her with some hesitation that I was involved with a “dreaded hen group,” but Margaret took it in stride, especially when I stressed that we just wanted a nice relaxing holiday, nothing overly rowdy or drunken.

But I had not foreseen the influence that the fifteen girls would have on one another once they were all turned loose for the weekend. With no critical boyfriends around or pub closing hours, all of us relaxed and I was very happy that we all had fun. It was nothing like I had dreamed, but the hens used the large house and its privacy for girlish playfulness all weekend.

Barrington House echoed with giggles, and laughter came from the bedrooms where gals had doubled up for late night gossiping. Mornings were deadly quiet as we healed from being hungover and the evenings were as wild as it could be with water fights, elaborate dress and midnight adventures on the trampoline outside.

Fortunately, our rowdiness didn’t result in any serious damage except for a stained dress and a few broken glasses. Jeannie, the owner of Frome Wine Vineyards, served us a gorgeous, delicious lunch, which helped sober us up a bit for an information session on the growing of grapes and the production of wonderful English rosé and white wines.

Our antics were at the perfect location of Barrington House. The immense kitchen was equipped with two dishwashers and offered ample space for late breakfasts and anytime snacking. Margaret had food available for us to warm up, which made dinner less stressful, allowing us females extra time to catch up.

There was a big garden at the house that was great for relaxing in the daytime plus nighttime fun, as well as being in a rural location so when we were noisy, we didn’t bother anybody. Each woman had her own room with lovely linens, and lots of towels were provided. There was even a slipper bath in one bathroom for a relaxing soak.

It was easy for the big dining room to accommodate everybody for the organized hen meal I had intended, which fast became a wild confetti tossing (certainly!) Margaret had a wise idea to set up beauty therapists for Sunday morning to relieve our pain, as well as massages, manicures and facials relaxed us before we traveled back to London.

It was a good thing that the expenses for the hen party were divided between fifteen people, so the weekend was very affordable, specifically the beautiful garden that saved us money in the afternoon playing rounders. It cost less to eat, have a beauty remedy and local trips than it cost in London, so there were no empty pockets, which happens easily when hen parties are uncontrollable. It was also terrific to have a luxurious bedroom all to yourself.

The Price: The whole stay added up to less than the 250 pounds I had planned for. The highest price was the £190 accommodation, since Margaret offered us a cheaper rate for last minute reservations. Additionally there was a £6.50 add-on per person for lunch and the wine-tasting, and another £10 for the hot meal and pudding that was awaiting us.

The Barrington House food services cost more and we were content that we made the choice to keep the group private. It cost a bit more to bring in some provisions, like candy, potato chips, and bottles of wine. A kayaking excursion would have meant paying an additional 16 pounds each approximately. There were optional beauty treatments, for people that desired this, and very affordable at £48 for a whole body aromatherapy massage or £29 for a complete pedicure.

When we got back home, Jenna embraced me and said she was just thrilled about our delightfully rowdy weekend. I was overjoyed, so I didn’t mention that I had figured it would be a serene, relaxing weekend! It was a compliment to Barrington house that we were at ease sufficiently enough to hen-party diligently, and since we didn’t need to concern ourselves with organizing things, it meant more time to party.

It was a good thing that Debbie was smart, even though in the beginning I felt nervous about giving here too much responsibility, since I felt like I wasn’t doing my job, but I expected she would be able to accomplish the task and she did. There were a few shaky times, (such as when I couldn’t get in touch with her, or there was a quick menu alteration) and when these moments occurred, I thought I couldn’t handle this hen; however, everything was fine eventually.

It was good to have somebody to depend on for local wisdom – like finding instructions about activities in the area.
In the end, I felt confident that Debbie was capable of organizing just about anything. She even suggested Sumo suits for garden wrestling, which looking back, was an outstanding idea. This was the best girls’ weekend ever!

On Friday evening, we stayed at the house, brought food in, got a bit tipsy, and took turns singing karaoke. The majority of the women slept at the house. One friend had borrowed a key to get into my flat and festooned it with balloons and decorations, which was a terrific surprise.

Saturday morning we took the train to London where we were met by friends who brought along the requisite veil, sash and badges publicly announce my position. After we checked into the hotel, we grabbed lunch and then headed off to Vinopolis for an excellent champagne tasting. Next we went back to the hotel and got all dressed up, 80’s style (I was She-Ra Princess of Power!) and traveled to a Japanese restaurant to have dinner. It was a teppanyaki restaurant, so our very funny chef prepared and served the food right at our table. The area we ate in had been festooned with streamers and balloons. We had a lot of fun because the girls rented a limo to drive around London after dinner. Then we went to the roller disco and fell down plenty of times before going back to our beds at 4am!

It was amazing! I would totally recommend a hen weekend! You really feel special; everyone is so pleasant and nice to you. I had my very best friends, my mother and my mother-in-law-to-be along as well, and they had a grand time.

I have a lot of wonderful memories and I still get emotional when I consider how much consideration and caring went into making certain I had a good time!

Hen Night in Blackpool

I chose to write this and tell you about my Blackpool hen party last year.
Initially it was good, my friends set up a wonderful night, which they concealed from me most of the time, so you can understand it wracked my nerves guessing what they had planned for me!

I was very leary even though no one planned to tie me up with only my underwear on, or to strip me naked and tie me up, as it turned out. I have to say we come from Preston so Blackpool is not a long distance. The fun started when we met at a great meeting spot in town; we met at the Washington. It took me hours to decide what to wear and after all this I chose my ‘dependable’ little black dress, but I shouldn’t have worried since my caring friends provided everything you could imagine, condoms, a veil, chocolate willy’s, and other x-rated objects, and additionally, an unmentionable huge vibrator that would make the most sexually active woman teary eyed!

Men and women were giving us tons of attention!
After that, the night went well, as I’m sure we hit every pub we could and we all got very drunk. I swore to myself and my fiancé that I would not overindulge myself with drinking so I could think clearly, but I couldn’t comprehend why I was dragging my words and raising my voice when I suggested some x-rated activities for my friends to do such as having a male underwear snatching contest.

Shamelessly encouraging it to continue, they thought it was just hilarious.
Probably 50% of the Blackpool male population was scared to death when we yelped down the street sounding like crazed banshees, harassing any men we saw so they could give us their underwear. Thankfully, most everyone took it in stride, and we were able to collect about six pairs, of which my friend Hazel decided we should wear them around on our heads.

Then we arrived at Funny Girls in spite of feeling worn and torn to say the least, the show was excellent.  This is a show for which I would surely advise all hens to spend some time in Blackpool for your special night. The men have bodies to die for with long legs!

It’s no wonder I was almost on my back, little did I realize that they had been spiking my drinks the entire night and by now I was so drunk that I requested a glass of coke.  We finally ended up in the Waterfront nightclub.

It didn’t take very long for me to hold up a long line to the bathroom because I wanted to say hi to Hugey. Even though, I probably looked like crap, as I certainly felt like it.  We kept going for the rest of the night.

When the time for my bad feeling had passed on, we all held on to each other’s drunken arms and got on the mini bus on our way home, but the night kept going on. They took me to one of my friend’s slats instead of home, and I found a surprise waiting for me, which was a stripper!

He had on a police uniform, and said to me ‘I believe you have been disturbing the peace, madam’ as we exited the mini bus. He provided a very steamy show to me once we were escorted inside. We all had a great laugh, but I was very embarrassed. I will not forget this quickly; it is definitely a night to remember!

How to Organise a Hens “Do” Night

One of the main responsibilities of the bridesmaids is to organise a hens “do” or “hens party” for the bride. Although there are many ways to celebrate the bride’s closing freedom, the most common is to hold a hen’s party – a night of drinking and mayhem. If you are the one organizing the hen’s night out, these are the basics to keep in mind.

Guest List

Compile a list of all the people that the bride would want to be present at the hens night. Her friends, coworkers, sisters, etc. should be included. Don’t forget to include the bride’s female family members. In addition, you should invite any female relatives on the groom’s side of the family, such as his mother and sisters, that you think may want to attend the hens night. Before finalizing it, be sure that you show the bride the guest list.

Choose A Date And Venue

With the bride’s advise, choose the date and place for the Hen Party. Do not have the hens night on the night prior to the wedding! Once the theme is chosen for the hen’s night out, find an available place for it that fits in.

Budget

fire girl costume

Fire Girl Costume Click to View

The hen’s party should be given a budget so the costs don’t run out of control. Do you want all the attendees to chip in to help pay for the event? Or as the hostess, will you be paying for it all? In order to keep the costs reasonable, it’s a good idea to put a budget together first.

Invitations

Once you have your guest list set and have selected the date, theme, and venue, it is time to send out the invitations. You can use traditional paper invitations that you send in the mail. Using Facebook is a good way to send out the invitations. It may be easier and simpler to send an E-vite so the hens can RSVP over the internet. The invitation should state the place, time, theme, and whether or not the invitee is expected to spend any money.

Food and Beverages

Once you know how many hens plan to attend, you can figure out what kind of food and beverages will be necessary. The food and drinks should fit in with the theme also, if there is a theme.

Games And Entertainment

Womans Bruno Lederhosen and Hat

Womans Bruno Lederhosen and Hat Click to View or Buy

The hen’s night should include games and entertainment. No, I am not referring to games like Monopoly or Clue. I am talking about hen do games. Two popular games for the hen’s party are drinking games called ‘I have never’ and ‘make a wedding dress from toilet paper’. It is also a tradition for the hen’s party that the bride be serenaded by a male stripper. If you want to hire a male stripper, it’s important to ask the bride about it first! Then there is the music to be determined. The music play lists should coincide with the theme of the party and put the girls in the mood for a party.

Set Up Transportation

Decide if you want to book a limousine or if you just require taxis for the evening. Keeping your budget and guest list in mind, book transportation accordingly.

Loud Hens Do Night

We hired two male dancers dressed like policemen for a hens do night… nothing unusual about that.

They went through the whole spiel of telling us that people were complaining about the noise and that we should turn down the music, while we chanted, “Take off your pants!” So the music was blaring and we were all having a ball drinking and dancing when we heard someone pounding on the door.

You know what?

There are two additional policemen! They were really handsome so we looked at one another wondering who had hired them, and the girls began shouting at them to take it off.

Well, as it happened, they were actually policemen. And one girl was pulling on one of them so much that he had to tell her to step back. It seems that our music was creating a disturbance, but they did not give us a hard time.

Among other things that can be planned, one is the hen’s party. Every guest at the hen’s party should have fun!

This is the bride’s last night of freedom so the hen’s party should include some naughty activities. If indeed marriage is a ball and chain around the leg, as it is considered to be by both men and women, then why do people get married anyway?

Laughing and having fun is the main goal for the hen’s party. There are many activities to choose from, but most often, the male stripper is center stage.

It’s not difficult finding a male stripper and you will want to have one on the schedule. They are a staple of just about every hen’s party. Sometimes the hens even go to a pole dancing club for men!

It is quite usual to issue dares as part of the hen party tradition. These are usually quite risqué, but after the right amount of alcoholic beverages, they turn out to be quite entertaining!

The hen’s party is usually a loud party but if you or the bride aren’t into this, plan on having a quiet get together in your home. There aren’t many people who enjoy the laddette culture.

The primary reason for holding a hen party is to make the bride blush. This is easy to do with props and sexy clothes! Make sure to add to her embarrassment by daring her to do naughty deeds.

Don’t be worried that you won’t know what to do during the hen’s party, as there are numerous suggestions, advice, and supplies available on the internet.

There are companies that will organize the hen’s party for you if you don’t have the time or inclination to do it yourself. You will plan this party only once or twice during your lifetime, but these companies do it everyday, having good advice and suggestions to offer.

This is the bride’s last night of freedom, so make the hen’s party a night to remember. If you pay attention to the organizing of the party, everyone should have a good time and remember the hen’s party.
